Teaching
For more than a decade, teaching has been the central focus of my professional life. From my earliest teaching experiences in China to the classes I now run in Europe and the United States, working with students has been a continual source of personal and professional inspiration. I see my students as partners in a process that depends heavily on experimentation, creativity, a willingness embrace failure as a necessary step towards success (except of course on final exams), and the co-creation of knowledge.
I see my role as a teacher to:
• facilitate focused, analytical debate
• establish and critique theoretical frameworks for simplifying reality
• create knowledge in partnership with the students
• foster an environment of curiosity, empathy and philosophical imagination
I have taught university and corporate courses on:
• International Relations Theory • The Digital Age • The Politics of Nuclear Weapons
• Foreign Policy Making • Theories of Decision Making • Organizational Behavior
• Social Networks • Communications Technology • Social Anthropology
Teaching experience:
Universität der Bundeswehr München (The University of the German Federal Armed Forces, Munich)
George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies
Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing
Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Yunnan
